The Brandywine Valley in New Castle is one of Delaware’s top tourist destinations, both for its beauty and for it excellent array of activities. Here you can visit Longwood Gardens, the Delaware Historical Society, or the Rockwood Museum. Brandywine is also home to the Delaware Art Museum. Founded in 1912, this museum has the nation’s largest collection of British Pre-Raphaelite art.

For a faster time, head to Kent to visit the Dover International Speedway. This race track is home to the NASCAR Sprint Cup series and has all sorts of fast-paced excitement year round. Or if you’re feeling lucky, take a trip to Harrington to try your luck at Midway Slots on the Delaware State Fairgrounds.

Delaware is also a great state for outdoor adventures. The untamed wilderness in this state is ideal for camping, hiking, kayaking, biking, hunting, horseback riding and more. Visit Bethany Beach for a fun family day trip, or head to Trap Pond State Park for great kayaking and wildlife sightings.

Dining and Nightlife

Delaware boasts a number of great bars and restaurants. If you’re in Wilmington, try 1717, a bar known for great specialty drinks that change monthly. The list of available martinis here numbers in the dozens. The BBC Tavern and Grill in Greenville is a local favorite with classy fare and a casual atmosphere. Then there’s the Deer Park Tavern in Newark, a favorite of students and faculty at the University of Delaware.
